the beginning

This lone tree didn't want to give in to the excavator as it tried to push it over. The NC School of Science and Math was taking out several trees to make way for a new soccer stadium on campus. The excavator took out three huge pine trees in a matter of minutes, but this hardwood stood its ground. It looked like the excavator had to dig down more than 10 feet around the base of the tree to get to its roots, before it finally gave in and came down like the other trees before it.
